The basics
What is Franchise Tag GM?
Franchise Tag GM is a pro football general manager sim. You run a team's front office in a fictional 32-club league: re-sign or tag your players, bid in free agency, scout and draft, manage the salary cap, hire coaches and keep your owner happy.
Who makes it?
Franchise Tag GM is made and published by Plum Hawk LLC.
How much does it cost?
The one-season preview is free. The full game is planned for Steam Early Access at $19.99.
When is it coming to Steam?
There's no date yet. Join the email list on the home page and you'll hear when the Steam page goes up and when Early Access starts.
What do I play it on?
The preview runs in a web browser on your computer, with nothing to install. The Early Access release is planned for Steam.
The free preview
What's in the free preview?
The preview lets you play one season of a career in your browser. You can start a new preview career when you want to try a different team or plan.
Where do I play the preview?
Will my preview career carry over to the full game?
We haven't announced that yet. We'll share the details before Early Access starts.
Your league
Are these real teams and players?
No. Franchise Tag GM uses its own league, the American Pro Football Circuit, with fictional clubs and players. It isn't affiliated with any real league or players' association. You can edit the league or import your own roster file.
How many teams are in the league?
The American Pro Football Circuit has 32 clubs in two conferences, Liberty and Heritage. You can pick any of them.
Can I edit players and teams?
Yes. The built-in editor lets you change players, staff, teams and league settings, and you can import a roster file.
How do saves work?
Saves are stored in your browser on your own device. You can keep several, and export a save to a file to back it up or move it. You can also duplicate a save or branch one to try a different plan. Clearing your browser data can remove saves, so export the ones you care about.
How the game plays
How does the franchise tag work in the game?
Each offseason has a tag window where you can put a franchise tag or a transition tag on an expiring player. Tag costs are set by position.
How does free agency work?
Free agency runs in five rounds. Other teams bid too, and players answer when the calendar moves forward, so you won't always land the player you want.
Can I get fired?
Yes. Your owner sets goals, and your job security moves with the results. The owner can fire you or offer you an extension, and a GM job market shows which front offices just made changes.
Do I call plays?
No. You're the GM. You set the depth chart and the game plan, then play or sim each game. You can watch games in a play-by-play view.
Can I make trades?
Yes. You can trade players and draft picks. Player trades close at the trade deadline and reopen after the season.
What happens in the draft?
The draft pool shows combine numbers, scout ranges, potential and scheme fit. You can see every pick you own for the next three years and what your rookies will cost against the cap.
Does the game keep history?
Yes. Awards, all-time records, a Hall of Fame, team histories and a news wire keep track of what happened in your league.
Feedback and support
How do I give feedback or report a bug?
Email support@franchisetaggm.com. The preview also has a feedback link built in.
Does feedback actually change the game?
Yes. We read every piece of feedback, and the best ideas show up in the game fast, often in the next update.
