It's also made by ZenGM, so if you play Basketball GM, it will feel familiar. Those are real strengths, and none of the alternatives below beat it on all of them.

The alternatives
Franchise Tag GM: for players who want the offseason to matter
Franchise Tag GM picks up the day after the championship and walks you through the offseason a step at a time. You decide who gets tagged, who gets re-signed and who walks. Then you compete with other teams across five rounds of free agency, read combine numbers and scout ranges, and draft. Meanwhile your owner is watching, and holdouts get settled face to face. The league is fictional, with 32 clubs, and you can edit it or import a roster file.
The catch: it's new, the full game isn't on Steam yet, and the free preview is one season per career. It also has less on finances and stat tools than Football GM.
Front Office Football Nine: for players who want to coach and run the business too
A text-based sim from Solecismic Software ($29.99 on Steam, Windows). You can set game plans and playbooks, call every play yourself if you like, and handle ticket prices, stadium plans and even moving your team. The series goes back to 1998.
The catch: it's a paid, Windows-only game, and it's built around menus and numbers.
Draft Day Sports: Pro Football 2026: for players who want game-day control
From Wolverine Studios ($19.99 on Steam, Windows). It covers drafting, trades, signings and the cap, and adds play calling and strategy changes on game day. Its Steam page lists editing for teams, players, logos and leagues.
The catch: it's a paid, Windows-only game. If you only want the front office, the coaching side may be more than you need.
